The Silly Start

Every great idea starts with a craving—and ours just happened to be for boba.
It was a hot, hazy afternoon in India when the idea for Silly Duck first popped into our founder’s head. He was on a short trip, just visiting, soaking in the colors, chaos, and chai but something was missing. As a Hong Kong local, he was used to grabbing a boba whenever the mood struck (which was often). But as he explored Indian streets and sipped on everything from coconut water to cutting chai, he couldn’t find one thing he really wanted: a good cup of bubble tea.
Like, the real stuff. Silky milk tea, chewy boba, a perfect ice ratio, and flavors that make you do a little happy dance. Why wasn’t this joy available here?
That was the spark.
The trip was supposed to be temporary, but the idea? That stuck.
“If I can’t find good boba here,” he thought, “why not make it?”
And so began the wonderfully odd journey of building a boba brand that didn’t take itself too seriously—but took its drinks very seriously. We tested, tasted, and tinkered. We mixed in a little bit of Hong Kong, a little bit of India, and a whole lot of personality.
So here we are: born from a craving, brewed with curiosity, and bubbling with flavor.
From Hong Kong to India, with love and boba.
